With all the prints in the air this summer, the common side effect is pay fever (fear of buying something you’ll never wear again). To avoid this at all costs, Mela HQ is on-hand to summarize the start of the new season. From a first glance, it appears that oversized florals, pastels and midis are in and almost anything heavyweight is out – obviously. And while we’d love to say goodbye to dark tones, it’s not as clear cut as you might imagine…
If you’ve been too busy to scroll through our collection, that’s OK – we forgive you, you’ll need to the help of our Online Content Editor, Lottie. Find out first-hand what’s on her ‘to buy’ list and what she’ll be wearing it with.
Leader of the Pack
“Leopard print has been around for a couple of years now and I’m so glad it’s still here! I’m loving the urban jungle vibe that this wrap dress has going on. It’s fresh, but the colourway is classic, so it’s nothing too out-there. New work dresses are on my wish list, so I’ll be wearing this with white chunky trainers, a denim jacket and a rucksack for my commute.”
Between the Lines
“With the weather being so unreliable at the minute, it’s always good to have a back-up cover-up. The monochrome colours of this cardigan are totally up my street and black and white are always welcome in my wardrobe. Open fronts are a must for summer, too – I’ll be wearing mine with blue mom jeans, a high-neck t-shirt and black sandals.”
“How amazing is this skirt? It’s flippy and has the most amazing pleats running through the fabric. Plus, it’s one to keep stored for the colder months. Blue’s got to be up there with one of the easiest colours as well, so it can be paired with heels, or wedges and a white t-shirt in my case.”
“Who’d have thought that buttons would be such a big deal in 2019? This bodycon dress is such a steal – it’s easily dressed up or down depending on the occasion, and accessorizing is simple, I’ll be teaming it with tan heeled sandals and a straw clutch bag.”
